The health benefits of running
A recent study by an international study group analysed whether running Is associated with a lower risk of all-cause, cardiovascular and cancer mortality. Fourteen studies with a total of 232149 participants were included in their analysis.
They found that running for 50 minutes every week at moderate speed ( 8-9 km/hr) reduces the risk to die of cancer with 23% and the risk of cardiovascular mortality with 30%. More than 50 minutes running did not have a greater beneficial effect on mortality.
This interesting meta analysis again shows the importance of exercise. And, running twice a week for only 25 minutes should be possible for most people to plan in their busy agenda’s !
In conclusion, You do not have to be a professional athlete to achieve the maximum health effects from running.
